Marbobroad 10%
Composition:
Each 1 ml
contains Marbofloxacin 100 mg.
Properties:
Marbofloxacin
is a synthetic bactericidal antimicrobial belonging to fluoroquinolones
group which acts by inhibition of DNA gyrase Fluoroquinolones are
associated with a post-antibiotic effect in number of bacteria principally gram
negative (eg. Escherichia coli, klebsiella pneumoniae, pseudomonas aeruginosa).
The
fluoroquinolones are active against wade range of gram-negative and a
number of gram positive aerobes.
They are
highly effective against all intestinal bacterial pathogens as well as
several intracellular pathogens, eg. Brucella spp.
Quinolones
also have significant activity against Mycoplasma and chlamydia spp
Obligate
anaerobes tend to be resistant to most quinolones, as are most enterococcal
group D streptococcus spp (S faecalis and S faecium ).
Indications:
In
cattle
-Treatment
of respiratory infections caused by sensitive strains of Pasteurella
multocida, Mannheimia haemolytica,
Histophilus
somni and Mycoplasma bovis.
-Treatment
of acute mastitis caused by E. coli strains sensitive to marbofloxacin
during the lactation period.
Target species:
Cattle.
Dose
& administration:
Rout of
administration by IM, IV and SC
For whole of
product:
Single
dose (IM ): 2 ml /
25 kgm. B.wt.
Repeated
dose: 1 ml / 50 kgm.
B.wt/3 - 5 days.
Warnings
and precaution:
- People
known with hypersensitivity to (fluoroquinolones) should avoid
any contact with the product.
-
Fluoroquinolones should only be used based on susceptibility testing.
- Wash hands
after use.
- If the
product comes into contact with the skin or eyes, rinse with large amounts of
water.
- Product don't
be used in newborn domestic animals.
Contra-indications:
- Don't
use in animals with known hypersensitivity to Marbofloxacin or to
any other quinolone.
- Don't use
in cases where the pathogen involved is resistant to other fluoroquinolones
(cross resistance).
Adverse effects:
-
Administration by intramuscular route may cause transient local
reactions such as pain or an edema at the injection site and
inflammatory reactions which may persist for at least 12
days after injection.
-
Fluoroquinolones are known to induce arthropathies
Nevertheless. This
effect has never been observed with
marbofloxacin in cattle.
- In cattle and pigs, the preferred injection site is the neck area. no other adverse effect was observed in cattle and pigs.

infections (intramuscular
use).

offal: 5 days
Milk: 72 hours
Acute
mastitis (intramuscular
or subcutaneous use)
